Smoothed-particle hydrodynamics (SPH) Help

Submitted by Peter M on

  Hi,

I'm a student and now I'm at the beginning of studying the SPD method for my Master thesis. I found a lot of theory on the internet and in books, but what I would need are some solved basic examples (like in the Bathe FE procedures book for example) to see how does it "work". I someone could help me I would be realy gratefull.

SPH for fluid dynamics

Dear Colleges,

I have a number of questions concerning practical implementation of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics for fluid dynamics. I would really appreciate if you can give me some useful hints or references.

First, how to set initial values for volumes or mass and density associated with a particle? So far, I've not found a satisfactory explanation how to do this.

Hello Everybody,

Monaghan suggested for the SPH velocity correction an epsilon value of 0.5. If i use that in my code, my fluid behaves like pudding, not like water. It behaves like water when i use 0.001 or something similar. My start conditions are: rho = 1000, smoothing length h = particle spacing dx, sampling neighbours within a radius of 2h. Has anybody an idea?

Regards,

Frank
