The Engineering Mechanics Institute of ASCE, EMI, is pleased to announce its 2019 EMI International Conference to be held on July 3-5, 2019at INSA of Lyon, Villeurbanne, France. The conference will be chaired by Prof. Ali Daouadji (INSA of Lyon) and will be a forum to present the newest findings and to depict the future development of Engineering Mechanics and Mechanical Sciences, understood in the broadest sense.

EMI, the Engineering Mechanics Institute of ASCE, is pleased to announce the EMI 2017 Conference which will be held on June 4-7, 2017 in San Diego, California. It will be chaired by Prof. J.S. Chen and Prof. Yuri Bazilevs, both of the University of California San Diego.
At its April 12 meeting the Executive Committee of the ASCE Board of Direction approved Professor Subra Suresh, President of Carnegie Mellon University, as the winner of the Zdeněk P. Bažant Medal for Failure and Damage Prevention Medal “for his pioneering work on failure and damage prevention of metallic and composite materials under cyclic and other loadings.”
