With great pleasure I inform you that Yoichiro Matsumoto, of the University of Tokyo, is selected to receive the 2010 Ted Belytschko Applied Mechanics Award.

Inman, Krishnaswamy Ravi-Chandar, Thomas N. Farris, Wing Kam Liu, Mary C. Boyce, Choon Fong Shih, Oscar Dillon, Lewis Wheeler, Carl T. Herakovich, and Arthur W. Leissa.
The Applied Mechanics Award was established in 1988 and renamed the Ted Belytschko Applied Mechanics Award in 2008. The Award is given to an outstanding individual for significant contributions in the practice of engineering mechanics; contributions may result from innovation, research, design, leadership or education.
The Award, which includes a medal, a plaque, and an honorarium of $1500, will be presented at the Applied Mechanics Banquet, tentatively scheduled on Tuesday, 16 November 2010, during the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition, to be held in Vancouver, Canada, 12-18 November 2010.
