Hi Everyone,
I am trying to model a sandwich composite plate using shell element without using solid element for the faceplates and core. In ANSYS help, it says that I can use Shell91 to model a sandwich composite plate with Option 9 = 1 activated. The question is do I create just 1 area to represent the 2 faceplates and core, or I have to create 3 separate areas for the 2 faceplates and 1 core. If this is the case, then Shell91 Option 9=1 is not necessary, right? If i use shell91 by creating just one area and define 2 different mateiral properties for the faceplates and core, will ANSYS read the 2 materials together as one constant?
If anybody knows the answer to this, please respond. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!!!
