postdoc in structural mechanics at Johns Hopkins

We are looking for a Postdoc Fellow in the area of structural mechanics (4D printed morphing structures). The successful candidate will work in Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute (HEMI), Johns Hopkins University on a fully funded research project.

Duties
• Design, fabricate and conduct mechanical tests and numerical simulations on morphing structures with programmable materials such as shape memory polymer or other similar materials
• Write technical reports, papers and research proposals
• Guide the graduate students in the group

Requirements
• PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace/Structure/Material Engineering or other close areas
• Fluency in Finite element modeling techniques (e.g. LS-DYNA, ABAQUS etc.)
• Research experience of smart materials is highly desired
• Basic experimental skills and experience (MTS/Instron, 3D printing)
• Basic knowledge of fluid/solid interaction (FSI) modeling
• Knowledge of optimization and machine learning is a plus
• Good communication and writing skills
