Fully funded PhD positions in Cardiovascular Engineering (start Jan. 2024 or later)
Description: The Cardiovascular Engineering Lab (CEL) is actively recruiting multiple graduate students interested in pursuing a PhD in Biological Engineering or Engineering Science at Louisiana State University (LSU). Research focus is flexible, depending on the strengths and interests of the applicant. Projects at CEL encompass both experimental studies of cardiovascular biology and mechanics as well as computational modeling and simulation of cardiovascular function. Applicants with expertise in either (or both) of these areas are encouraged to apply (past experience is not required to be in cardiovascular applications).

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in bioengineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related field

- Mechanical testing of tissues
- Instrument / device design and control
Computational:
- Programming experience
- Numerical analysis (e.g., FEA, CFD, FSI, etc.)
- Image processing / segmentation
- Machine learning
- High performance computing
- Optimization
- Uncertainty quantification
