We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with expertise in the area of machine learning and (computational) solid mechanics.
The successful candidate will lead a research project that aims to develop novel approaches for using machine learning techniques to solve solid mechanics problems. The project will involve a combination of numerical simulations (such as the finite element method), and machine learning algorithms to develop novel approaches for solving complex problems. The project is part of a larger interdisciplinary effort to apply machine learning techniques to various areas of engineering design.
We offer a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment, access to state-of-the-art computational resources, and opportunities for professional development. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to collaborate with researchers in other departments and institutions.
This is a full-time, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal, subject to funding and performance.
To apply, please email your complete CV along with the name of three references to atabarra [at] uncc.edu.
