Updates:

*Applicants can also apply through our UVM Department of Physics to get a PhD in Physics!

Applications are invited for two doctoral research positions in Spring/Fall 2023 in the Program of Materials Science or the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Vermont. Successful candidates will work under the supervision of Prof. Jihong Ma at the University of Vermont on projects related to 1) atomistic simulations of polymers and 2) atomistic simulations of nanocrystals. The candidates should have a strong physics, chemistry, and mathematics background and preferably have experience in DFT, DFTB, MD, and/or MM simulations.

Interested candidates should send a CV with a publication list, a short description of research interests, a course transcript, and names of three references from previous research positions to Jihong.Ma@uvm.edu. Candidates will also need to apply and be admitted to the University of Vermont Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Physics, or Materials Science graduate program. Restrictions of nationality are applied to certain positions due to international travel requirements.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until a suitable candidate is identified. More information about Prof. Ma’s group and UVM can be found at Jihong Ma's Group (google.com).
