We have two PhD positions in the area of additive manufacturing of metals and alloys. We are looking for self-motivated and enthusiastic students with a degree in mechanical or materials engineering.
Students with following backgrounds are strongly recommended to apply:
- Additive manufacturing.
- Fracture mechanics.
- Solid mechanics and finite element modeling of materials
- Crystal plasticity
- Diffraction and imaging
Prospective candidates will be assessed based on how well they meet the following criteria:
- Excellent degree in their relevant discipline;
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills (iBT TOFEL score must be higher than 86, with no individual score below 20)
The following skills are desirable:
- Strong background in additive manufacturing of metals and alloys.
- Strong background in imaging and diffraction techniques, e.g. SEM, EBSD, XRD, DIC.
- Good understanding of fracture mechanics.
- Ability to work with finite element packages, e.g., ABAQUS.
- Ability to program in any of the following languages: FORTRAN, MATLAB, or Python.
