Novelty/impact/significance

1.      Investigate the SPL of the elastic wave metamaterial with stiffeners and local resonators immersed in water.

2.      Obtain the effective mass density and acoustic-structure coupling characteristics which can be tuned by the active feedback control at low frequency ranges.

3.      Improve the dynamic acoustic response for this elastic wave metamaterial with the fluid-solid coupling.

Scientific question

Active feedback control of sound radiation for the elastic wave metamaterial immersed in water with fluid-solid coupling has been presented in this article.

Key of how

Based on the effective medium method and Fourier transform, the effective mass density and the sound radiation properties of the elastic wave metamaterial can be obtained.

Major points

1. The present work can help us to understand the dynamic response of the metamaterial with both the acoustic-structure coupling and fluid-solid interaction.

2. Based on the locally resonant mechanism, the negative density is generated in a low frequency region.

3. The elastic wave metamaterial for the noise reduction and vibration isolation is wished to be applied in the practical engineering.
