In the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Bauhaus University Weimar, Germany, there is an opening for a doctoral student (research assistant) beginning on October 1st, 2016. The position is at the Chair "Modelling and Simulation - Mechanics" in the Institute of Structural Mechanics and it is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is possible in accordance with the applicable regulations of the Science Employment Law (WissZeitVG).
Responsibilities:
· Participation in teaching at the Bachelor and Master program level
· Research in "Computational Mechanics"
· Administrative Activities
The possibility of promotion and habilitation is given. Part of the work is devoted to independent scientific studies. This includes the preparation of technical publications that support this specific award, theses and formulating topics for further research.
Requirements:
· Diplom or Master in engineering, applied mathematics, or in civil engineering
· Very good knowledge of mechanics and mathematics
· Programming experience (C / C ++ or Fortran) especially in connection with finite elements
· Very good knowledge of German
Compensation is based on the provisions of the collective agreement for the public service of the German states (TV-L) according to the personal requirements to the salary group 13 TV-L.
