A fully funded PhD position for Fall 2016/ Spring 2017 is available in the area of experimental and computational damage mechanics at North Dakota State University, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Candidates are expected to (preferably) have a Master’s degree in Civil (Structures), mechanical, material science or any relevant engineering discipline with strong interest in mechanics, numerical methods, experimental techniques and programming. Candidates with background in continuum mechanics, finite element methods, experimental techniques and programming are strongly encouraged to apply. Evidence of strong scholarship may outweigh the background of the candidate. Journal publications, conference presentations are a plus.
The incumbent will be part of an exciting team that specializes in using theoretical and experimental mechanics to address 21st century infrastructural needs. North Dakota State University is a student focused research intensive Land Grant University located in Fargo (ND).
