Hi all,
I am working on modeling crack propagation in 2D polymer/nanoclay composite material using XFEM.
The polymer matrix would be rectangular shape and nanoclays be 2D wire.
Thus, the composite model looks like 2D rectangular and short fibers embeded in it.
The nanoclays (fibers) can be delaminated during the simulation, therefore I want to apply cohesive zone model at the interface between polymer and nanoclays.
If nanoclay is retacgular shape, it is simple by selecting the master surface (nanoclay) and slave surface (polymer). However, nanoclay is 2D wire structure so I could not apply them.
More clearly, the slave surfaces cannot be selected due to 2D wire structure.
Anyone knows how to solve this problem or suggest other ways to model this kind of materials for crack propagation?
Thank you in advance!
