Want guidance/help for Shell Modelling

Submitted by amitshah3333 on
Hi,

I am trying to do SHELL modeling of a problem to get Bending moment, Shear force, Axial Force etc.

Problem can be simply explained as below:

Model is just a like a room (block) with 4 surrounding wall, a roof and ground (Base).

Height (H) of (any) pair of opposite walls  are not same, i.e say H front = 5m and H rear = 3m.

(Base)  ground is straight whereas roof is inclined from front wall towards rear wall.

Problem can be sketched as below:

                                                 / @

                                    Roof     / l

                                             /   l

                                           /     l

                                         /       l

                                       /         l

                                   @ l          l

                     Wrear (3m)   l          l  W front (5m)

                                       l_Base_l

 @ Problem Area (Junctions)

Now I have prepared surface model of all walls considering mid-surface. My concern is of modeling front wall and rear wall.

I have model mid surface of both front and rear walls along with roof. But when I describe thickness during analysis (in ANSYS), I face a probelm at wall junctions with ROOF.

At 1 junction, Front wall (partly) penetrates inside roof and there is (partly) gap between them. Whereas at other junction there is a gap between roof and rear wall and also roof penetrates rear wall partly.

I am new to SHELL modeling. Kindly note that Roof is actually an Arch shaped (and not plain Slab type)

Any guidance/help/tips to solve this problem.

Thankyou

Amit
