The Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics (ESM) at Virginia Tech seeks applicants for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the general area of dynamical systems with applications to mechanics. Appointment will be at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor. Exceptionally qualified candidates may also be eligible for a named professor appointment.

ESM is a highly interdisciplinary department, so experience in this regard is desirable. Our twenty-five faculty members support over 80 doctoral students and work closely with colleagues in other engineering and science departments,as well as interdisciplinary institutes on campus. Faculty members are involved in several large research programs including an NSF IGERT program on multi-scale transport in environmental and physiological systems, an NSF EFRI program on complex microsystem networks inspired by internal insect physiology, and collaborative centers with Air Force and Army Research Laboratories. For more information about ESM see the website Additional information about Virginia Tech (, the College of Engineering (, and the town of Blacksburg ( is also available online.
