The Research School of Engineering at the Australian National University (ANU) seeks applications from outstanding researchers for a continuing position in the area of mechanical engineering. Sub-areas of interest include, but are not limited to: solid/fluid mechanics, bio-mechanics and bio-materials; composite and hybrid materials; advanced material processing technologies; dynamics, and manufacturing systems.



We wish to recruit individuals who have recently established themselves beyond an early career phase with international reputations for research excellence.



Requirements:

Applicants should have a PhD in mechanical engineering or in a closely aligned area of engineering, evidence of the ability to pursue an independent research program, and a strong commitment to teach within the school both at the graduate and undergraduate level. The appointee will also be expected to attract external funding and to build and lead a team of postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Applicants with industrial experience and with strong interest in commercialization of research who could cultivate a culture of entrepreneurship among the staff and students are especially encouraged to apply.



Applications should include a research vision statement, a teaching vision statement, and response to the selection criteria, detailed curriculum vitae including a publication list with a citation analysis, and the names and contact details of five referees. Shortlisted candidates may be required to present a seminar to the School as part of the selection process. Female candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

This is a permanent position at Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer(Assistant Prof.) level with a Salary Package: $96,865 - $123,772 pa plus 17% superannuation, NOT for fresh PhDs, so the selection requirements should be reasonable.
