Post-doctoral Research Position on Multiscale Computational Mechanics at Vanderbilt University

Submitted by Caglar Oskay on

We welcome applications for a post-doctoral position in the Multiscale Computational

Mechanics Laboratory within the Civil Engineering Department at Vanderbilt University.

The successful candidate will work on the development of multiscale computational models for

cement-based nano-composites. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Civil

Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. The work

will entail significant effort in molecular dynamics and continuum mechanics

applied to cementitious materials and carbon nanostructures. Candidates must

have a strong background in mathematics, mechanics and materials science.

Significant experience on molecular dynamics simulation software development

and/or use, and programming skills is required.

The position is initially for 10-months, with possibility of renewal. The review of

applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

The expected start date is January 2012, but actual start date is negotiable.

Interested candidates should apply by email to Prof. Caglar Oskay (caglar.oskay [at] vanderbilt.edu (caglar[dot]oskay[at]vanderbilt[dot]edu)) or

Prof. Florence Sanchez (florence.sanchez [at] vanderbilt.edu (florence[dot]sanchez[at]vanderbilt[dot]edu)),

including the following documents: (1) A complete and current curriculum vitae;

and, (2) A list of 3 references (including name, affiliation, address, e-mail,

and phone number).
