Research Leader and Manager, Carbon Resource Management Department

The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a highly qualified individual to lead its Carbon Resource Management Department, which is a component of the Energy Systems and Technologies Division of the INL Energy and Environmental Science and Technology Directorate. As Department Manager, you will be expected to lead manage and grow a currently small department in the INL Energy and Environmental Science  and Technology Directorate, with a focus on unconventional fossil energy and the environmental impacts of unconventional fossil energy while you are actively engaged in research aligned with Department goals. Current research activities in the department include: computational and experimental geomechanics (coupled with other subsurface processes) and its applications to unconventional fossil energy production, CO2 sequestration and geothermal energy; geochemistry; the sources, fate and transport of subsurface contaminants; and enhanced oil recovery.  Development of regional, national and international research partnerships will be an important responsibility.  The minimum qualifications for this position are a PhD in physical science or engineering plus 8 years post-PhD experience, a strong record of research productivity and demonstrated leadership and commitment to high quality research. Fossil energy research accomplishments in a government laboratory, large fossil energy company or university would be important assets, as would previous management experience.
