Help needed on VUINTER to define molecular interaction between two surfaces

Submitted by pphl on

Hi,

Does anyone have any idea on using VUINTER to define adhesive contact between a hard body and a soft body (the potential between the two surfaces is molecular like van der waals or lennard-jones potential).

Basically, when I bring this hard body close to the soft body, the soft body gets deformed (the deformation profile is simusoidal) as the soft body gets attracted to the hard body via the molecular potential (this happens when the distance between these two bodies is less than some critical distance). Can someone give me any inputs on how to proceed? I use cohesive zone modelling, but no use because instead of the soft body being attracted to the hard body, the soft body was getting compressed as if a normal compressive load was present. Thanks in advance.
