Modelling varying young modulus powder compaction

Submitted by yap zheng dao on

Dear all,

Sry for posting this topic again. However, i've meet problems when simulating powder compaction. The following parameters is what i have i used

Elastic : Young modulus 40

            Poisson Ratio    0.35

Plasitc : Drucker Prager    angle of friction 33

                                    Dilation angle    0

                                    Flowstressratio  1

Drucker Prager Hardening     Yield stress  65     Abs plastic strain  0

                                                                           70                              0.38

                                                                           80                                0.39

                                                                           100                              0.405

                                                                              110                              0.447

I used a simple cylindrical model with fixed boundary condition at the bottom  and the side to prevent all D.O.F except the Vertical direction. From the simulation result, it seems that the model doesnt harden as it was being compacted. A mere 35kN Force applied can compact it to half the initial height while experimental work done is more than 75kN.

I figured that the Young Modulus does not change when it was being compacted when it suppose to change. Is there any way to simulate this without using any subroutine?

It is really urgent. I hope anyone can help me out. thanks.
