advice to understand the Gurson Model

Submitted by jingzheng on

Recently, I am studying on the Gurson Model, but it is a little bit hard for me to understand most part in the paper 'Continuum Theory of Ductile Rupture by Void Nucleation and Growth', I don't know about the spirit of deduction of formulas and some keywords make me confused, like 'convexity'and 'normality','loci',many....

It may be helpful if someone who is highly understand better about Gurson can introduce me some references maybe basic or middle hard, Thanks!

Hi.

Could you please share with me the derivation of Gurson model as I am trying to simulate porous media in ANSYS by implementing the Gurson model. If I  understand the derivation, I can do it in better way.

 thanks and regards

Hi Govind,

Since I dont know how to attach file in the reply post, please send me a message to kzhao [at] fas.harvard.edu, I will send you the derivation of Gurson model.

The Gurson model has been widely used to study the deformation and failure of metallic materials
containing microvoids. The void volume fraction is the only parameter representing voids since the void size does not come into play in the Gurson model.
