USNCCM-11 Minisymposium on Mechanics of Materials from Nano to Macro Scales

Submitted by Ken P. Chong on

Dear Colleagues,  You are cordially invited to submit an abstract to the following mini-symposium at the 11th U.S. National Congress on Computational Mechanics (http://www.usnccm.org/), to be held on July 25-29, 2011 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

7.7 Mechanics of Materials from Nano to Macro Scales Organized by James D. Lee and Ken P. Chong,  The George Washington University

This mini-symposium will address the modeling, simulation and testing of physical phenomena at various length/time scales. In particular, it is devoted to computational and experimental investigation of sequential or concurrent multiscale material modeling in the presence of multi-physics couplings, nano/bio mechanics and materials. Contributions from researchers in the fields of solid/fluid mechanics, material science/engineering are cordially invited.

Topics include:

Thermo-mechanical coupling; Electromagnetic effects; Biomechanics and biomaterials; Computational mechanics; Multi-scale and multi-physics modeling; Microcontinuum theories; Transport in microscale and multiscale fluid dynamics; Heat transfer at nano/micro scale; Nanocomposite materials

Information on submitting an abstract and a sample abstract for formatting purposes may be found at http://www.usnccm.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=123&Itemid=38

Please note that the deadline for abstract submission is  January 31, 2011

Best regards,
