Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Turbine Blade Vibration and Stress Analysis, San Diego State University

Submitted by Satchi Venkataraman on

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Turbine Blade Vibration and Stress Analysis,  Department of Aerospace Engineering, San Diego State University, San Diego, California, USA.

A post-doctoral research fellow position is available for a research project related to the prediction and uncertainty quantification of peak vibration stresses in turbine blades of integrally bladed rotors under multi-frequency forced excitations. The position is for a period of one year, with possibility for renewal for a second year.  The position is available for an immediate start.

Ph.D. position in Mechanics of Advanced Multifunctional Materials - Technion – Israel Institute of Technology

Submitted by Stephan Rudykh on

Ph.D./Master position in the field of mechanics of materials is available at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. The position starts on Oct. 1, 2014 or soon thereafter. Excellent candidates with deep knowledge in nonlinear elasticity, experience in finite element simulations, and/or with strong experimental background are encouraged to apply. Our group employs a mix of theoty, numerical simulations and experiments combined with 3D printing.

How to study a inverse problem? Know the orbit, solve the constraint condition.

Submitted by pcmagic on

Dear all,

Now I face a noval problem, and I do not know how to deal with it, even cannot begin the first step.

As we know, the formulation of a classical mechanical question  is given the initial condition and the constraint condition, and solve the unknown orbit. Now I face a inverse problem. I know the initial condition and the orbit, and would like to solve the unknown constraint condition.

Is there anyone could give some seggestion, I don't know how to do it. Thanks.

Best.

Selection of element bsed on the location in abaqus using python script.

Submitted by rajesh2902 on

Hi

I'm facing problem while writing a script for a parametric study.

After changing the each parameter the model changes and and the loaction of the interested element changes based on those parameters.

Also the element number changes.

Is there any command in python script to choose the elements based on the location ?

Thank you in advance

Master’s (Research)/Ph.D position available in Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M

Submitted by le Graverend on

A Ph.D. position is available at Texas A&M University in the Aerospace department to work on interactions between fatigue and creep (permanent deformation due to a constant mechanical stress applied) at high temperature in a superalloy. More information are in the attached file.

The candidate should have obtained a Bachelor’s or a Master's degree with a strong background in materials science, mechanical engineering or any related field. An interest for both experimental and numerical approaches is expected from the successful candidate.
