problem in mode shapes obtained by Element Free Galerkin Method

Submitted by Soheilo on

Hello dear all

I'm Soheil Marandy and I work on meshfree methods. I have analysis the free vibration of a thin plate using element free Galerkin method but I have seen that using different field nodes in the element free galerkin method provide different mode shapes.

I would be appreciated If I could have your points on this isssue.

Warm regards,

Soheil

Torque of Prismatic Beams of Piecewise Rectangular Cross Section

Submitted by CH von Kerczek on

I present in this note a finite difference method and Scilab computer programs to

numerically solve the Saint-Venant theory for torsion of prismatic beams (shafts, bars) of

piecewise rectangular cross section. The purpose of this note is mostly educational, for I

believe that it is quite instructive to not only solve these problems analytically whenever

possible but also explore solutions numerically of common configurations for which one

cannot readily obtain analytical solutions. The same kind of problems occur in heat transfer,

Second Call for Minisymposia: 12th US National Congress on Computational Mechanics

Submitted by John E. Dolbow on

The deadline for minisymposium proposals for the 12th US National Congress on Computational Mechanics (USNCCM12) has been extended to September 30, 2012.

The Congress will be held July 22-25, 2013 in Raleigh, NC and proposals are solicited from people interested in organizing sessions in their area of expertise or interest and/or wishing to honor a particular individual for their sustained contributions or a special honorary birthday celebration.

Modelling primitives for Plane strain

Submitted by amitshah3333 on

Hi All,

I am very new to FEM process and ANSYS as well.

I am trying to do a plane strain problem (2D) in ANSYS.

My problem is  I dont know how to model primitives like sphere, cube, cylinder etc for 2D plane strain problem.

Like say can i model circle of 20mm radius for modeling sphere of 20mm radius???

Or can i model square of 50mm length for cube of 50mm.

May sound very dumb, but this is my geniune problem

Thankyou for your time and help (in advance)
