ARC and CRC APAI PhD Scholarships in Rail Engineering


QUT's Faculty of Built Environment and Engineering in Brisbane is seeking applications from qualified civil/materials/mechanical engineering graduates (Honours Class 2A minimum) for an Australian Postgraduate Award Industry (APAI) PhD scholarship of $30,000 (tax free) per annum for ...three years. The scholarships is funded by the Cooperative Research Centre for Rail Innovation (CRC). We are looking for applicants with an excellent undergraduate academic record (minimum equivalent to Hons IIA) who have a passion for understanding the behaviour and failure of materials and structures under loading.

Possession of research or coursework master qualifications in structural and/or materials engineering and authoring peer reviewed publications will be an advantage. The successful candidates will join a vibrant and caring team of academics and industry partners.

The PhD topic is: Modelling the transmission of forces through concrete sleepered heavy haul railway track (supervised by Dr Martin Murray at Queensland University of Technology and Associate Professor Alex Remennikov at University of Wollongong)
