A Ph.D. position is available in the Solids Mechanics Laboratory (LMS) at Ecole Polytechnique in the Paris area in France.
The project is to investigate three-dimensional instabilities in magneto-active thin films heterogeneously patterned by design.
The proposed thesis includes both experimental (3D printing of magneto-sensitive polymers) and numerical (finite element) aspects.
The successfull candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering. They will demonstrate a strong background in experimental work, and a good background in FE modeling and simulations, especially multiphysics simulations.
