Call for Nomination for Four ASME Awards

Dear iMechanica Community, 

I would like to bring your attention to four ASME awards as described below. Take a note of the brand new award being inaugurated this year for mid-career researchers. Please spread the word to your colleagues and communities!  The deadline for nominations is February 1, 2021.

ASME Materials Division calls nominations for the Orr Early Carrer Award, Sia Nemat-Nasser Early Career Award, Materials Division Mid-Career Awards, and Nadai Medal. 

ORR EARLY CAREER AWARD

This award recognizes young researchers within 7 years of terminal degree working in experimental, computational, or theoretical fatigue, fracture, or creep. For more information please see https://www.asme.org/about-asme/honors-awards/unit-awards/orr-early-career-award

SIA NEMAT-NASSER EARLY CAREER AWARD

This is a society-level award. The award recognizes early career research excellence in the areas of experimental, computational, and theoretical mechanics and materials by young investigators who are within 10 years after their Ph.D. degree, with special emphasis placed on under-represented groups. MATERIALS DIVISION CENTENNIAL MID-CAREER AWARD

This award is being inaugurated in commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ASME Materials Division. This award recognizes outstanding mid-career researchers between 10 and 20 years of their terminal degree (at the date of the nomination deadline) working in a technical area at the interface of materials and mechanics. 

Nominations will come from members of ASME. The nominator must use “ASME Unit Achievement Award form” to submit. In the form, qualification of nominee including the nominee’s contributions in the areas of materials and mechanics research must be clearly stated. The nomination must accompany three reference letters including one from the nominator. For information on nominations, visit the ASME Unit Award Nominations Page.

NADAI MEDAL

This is a society-level award. The Nadai Medal is awarded in recognition of significant contributions and outstanding achievements which broaden the field of materials engineering. Such achievements may be, for example, in the areas of education, research, development, and service to the field and profession. Nominations are not restricted by profession, nationality or ASME or other Society membership.
