Job Summary

Apple PPO Engineering team is looking for an enthusiastic and highly qualified engineer to lead the structural and dynamic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in flat panel display and touch sensor. The successful candidate needs to have strong background in fracture mechanics, mechanical testing/characterization and FEA modeling, and must be highly self-motivated.

Core Summary

The position is focusing on developing robust method to characterize the intrinsic mechanical property and fracture limit of thin film materials involved in flat panel display and touch sensor. Knowledge and learnings in this domain are essential in improving mechanical design and module integration process. The candidate is expected to understand the engineering challenges, propose and execute solutions through independent creative thinking, internal cross-functional collaboration and facing with supplier.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong background in fracture mechanics, in fundamental theories, experimental methods and numerical modelings, demonstrated through track record of relevant research experience and academic work
  • Strong background in thin film mechanics and experimental characterization methods
  • Hands on experience in developing customized mechanical testing tools, fixtures and metrologies for material property and failure threshold characterization
  • Proficient in finite element simulations with widely used FEA softwares, such as Abaqus and ANSYS.
  • Knowledge of display stack-up a plus
  • Strong analytical & critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The internship is expected to last for 6~9 Months, therefore PhD student close to the completion of degree is preferred

Education
MS required, Ph.D. preferred, in Mechanical Engineering, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and Material Sciences/Engineering.
