Presentation of Cast2cloud, a web-based platform for mechanical and thermal simulations

Dear iMechanica,

We are pleased to present Cast2cloud (http://cast2cloud.com), the first and only web-based platform for interacting with Cast3M. The latter is a finite element software developed by the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) for mechanical and thermal simulations. It is available free of charge for teaching and research. For further information, please refer to http://www-cast3m.cea.fr/.

Cast2cloud is a non-profit project aiming to assist novice users of Cast3M and/or those who are less familiar with programming.

Main features of Cast2cloud:

• Create meshes using Cast3M for basic geometries like circles, rectangles, cylinders, etc.

• Handle meshes imported from external mesh generators

• Setup problems from many physical models and a wide range of materials

• Run simulations via the web browser by using the Cast2cloud computing server or custom servers of users (via SSH connection)

• Visualize simulation results directly on the web browser
