The Department of Industrial Engineering, The University of Trento (Italy) opened a PhD position on multifunctional electro-mechanical transducers based on dielectric liquids and electro-active polymers (EAPs), namely liquid-based EAPs (LEAPs).
LEAP transducers (actuators and generators) are a highly promising technology that combines the features of hydraulic drives and the advantages (in terms of light weight, low cost, resilienace and compliance of EAPs). This PhD scholarship is meant at gaining understainding of LEAPs physics and designing/prototyping a number of devices for robotics and energy harvesting applications.
