Positions in computational solid mechanics at Institute of High Performance Computing, A*STAR, Singapore

We are looking for capable and responsible candidates for the following positions:

 

#1.  We seek candidates with extensive experience in computational mechanics skills:

  • PhD in computational mechanics / applied math / applied physics

  • Statistics, Probability theory, Geometry, Graph theory, Reconstruction algorithms (for generating instantiations of virtual specimens) would be a big plus

  • Expertise in Linear and Non Linear Finite Element Analysis 

  • Good familiarity with structure of FEM codes and ability to populate elements of virtual specimens with constitutive laws, including nonlinear stress-strain properties and fracture criteria.

  • Good coding skills for Scientific Computing  

Job requirements:

  • Ability to write new code, integrate codes, and collaborate on converting into high thoughput (parallelized) code

  • Possess good publication track record

  • Possess good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills

 

#2.  We seek candidates with extensive experience in computational mechanics skills to work on modeling metals and/or composite materials

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering / Materials Science / Applied Physics

  • Specialization in Computational Mechanics, Materials Modeling, and Multi- scale Methods

  • Expertise in Linear and Non Linear Finite Element Analysis 

  • Modeling damage progression in CFRP composite materials and meso-scale modeling of woven fabrics composites from X-ray CT-Scan imaging of actual specimens

  • Good coding skills for  Scientific Computing  

Job requirements:

  • Proficient in using commercial finite element tools such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, and/or NASTRAN

  • Proficient in programming skills in these languages (C/C++, Fortran, Python, and

  • Possess good publication track record

  • Possess good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
