Job Description

Schlumberger-Doll Research (SDR) center is looking for a Research Associate with materials and mechanical engineering background. The scientist will work in SDR Mechanical and Materials Sciences Department with a team of experienced scientists and engineers to develop and quantify the behavior of metal-based materials for oil and gas applications. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of solid materials such as metal and ceramics; experimental testing experience using a variety of materials characterization tools; good problem solving skills and strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

·         Develop and evaluate innovative materials using standard and advanced characterization techniques

·         Develop customized lab test fixtures for material testing

·         Develop and evaluate special material processes for downhole applications

·         Perform failure and predictive analyses to quantify and expand the service life of innovative materials used in harsh downhole environment

·         Interface with engineering teams, suppliers and customers in material related activities

·         Produce detailed scientific reports and provide effective technical presentations

Qualifications

·         PhD in materials science or mechanical engineering with a strong fundamental understanding of materials science and mechanics of materials

·         Experience in experimental material characterization, metallurgy, mechanical properties of materials

·         Independent research experience and good problem-solving abilities
