Polymer Packaging Modeling Engineer at Procter & Gamble


The Packaging Modeling and Simulation Application Analyst will work with a multi-disciplined team to develop and apply practical Finite Element and empirical models to enable faster learning and development of new packaging structures. You will help to educate the PackDev and Product Supply organizations on the capabilities and limitations of M&S within the world of flexible and rigid packaging. You will help establish and support a culture that appreciates and understands the inherent value of Modeling and Simulation to improve package performance and packing efficiency. This role will report directly to the PackDev M&S Section Head located in Beckett Ridge, OH.

Skills desired for this role:

A strong passion to learn simulation methods and drive M&S culture change.

Proactively collaborate with business leaders and initiative teams to identify opportunities where M&S can have the biggest impact on the business.

Champion the appropriate use of M&S to solve tough, technical challenges and drive fast, robust decision making.

Experience with lab and manufacturing measurement techniques needed to validate physics based models.

A working skill level in CAD and understanding of technical drawings

Goes beyond accepted ideas, and eager to understand and solve difficult problems using external and internal resources.

Experience in injection molding, blow molding, flexible packaging, and other manufacturing techniques is preferred but not required.

Qualifications Required for this role:

Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering related field – passion in Structural Mechanics, Polymer Material Modeling, Stress/Strain analysis, Friction, etc.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and empirical modeling methods

Experience with FEA software ABAQUS or LS-Dyna or ANSYS

Experience with statistical analytical software such as JMP and Excel

Application of 1st Principles understanding to virtual work tools

Strong computer and communication skills required
