Pure shear and uniaxial

Submitted by Abhishek Saini on

What is the difference between pure shea and uniaxial tension? How can we predict it experimentally?

In pure shear state, the deformation in one direcition perpendicular to loading direction is constrained as stain=0. While in unixaixla tension, no constrain is imposed as you apply a stress in one direction.
