75% Engineering Analysis and Testing Development:

- Interact with business R&D personnel to identify, analyze, and provide technical solution for product development problems through mechanical testing, engineering simulation and analysis in the field of solid mechanics. Focus on mechanics of materials, finite element analysis, failure and fracture mechanics and analysis, material constitutive behaviors, heat transfer, and related testing methods. Develop the numerical models into computer aided engineering (CAE) tools and systems for worldwide engineering teams. Develop the experimental methods for high quality material characterization and product performance testing.

- Perform numerical QA and experimental validation to ensure accuracy of analysis results. Interpret and synthesize the analysis and test results. Present to and discuss with customers, recommend and follow through the solutions.

25% Method Development:

- Identify, develop, and apply state-of-art experimental and simulation method to establish thermo-mechanical condition of materials/products in process/application.

Follow and evaluate new advancements in the field and actively introduce relevant new technologies into the company.

Project Planning and Management:

Work with business R&D personnel to develop project SMART objective, approach, and deliverables. Manage projects to ensure the on time delivery of high quality results appropriate to the project goals.

Report and Documentation:

Report and document the analysis method, data, result, and conclusion as presentations and technical memos.

All research must be performed in a manner that is consistent with good laboratory practice and in compliance with company safety policies. Laboratory and office space must be maintained in good order in accordance with 5S policy.


The successful candidate will have strong background in solid mechanics, heat transfer, fracture mechanics, and numerical methods. Prior experience with commercial finite element analysis software such as Abaqus Ansys is required. Prior training and experience with material mechanical property characterization and instrumented mechanical testing highly desired. Programming skills in C++/Fortran/Python is desired but not required. The ability to communicate effectively (in writing and orally) and presentation skills are critical.


Skills associated with a Ph.D. in Mechanical/Aerospace/Civil/Materials Engineering (or related fields), an M.S. in Mechanical/Aerospace/Civil/Materials Engineering (or related fields) with 3+ years of industrial R&D experience, or a B.S. in Mechanical/Aerospace/Civil/Materials Engineering (or related fields) with a minimum of 7 years of industrial R&D experience.
