Faculty Positions
Mechanical Engineering
The Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) Division at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) invites qualified applicants to apply for faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor) in the Mechanical Engineering Program.
KAUST offers superb research facilities, generous assured research funding and internationally competitive salaries. www.kaust.edu.sa
The science produced in PSE is about understanding, modeling, and manipulating matter at all scales: nano, meso, and macroscopic levels; in all forms: bulk, thin films, divided colloids, fluid flows, earth as system etc. and in interaction with external stimuli: light, heat, fluids, etc. or stresses. The knowledge created serves to design and engineer materials, technologies, and systems.
The Mechanical Engineering Program at KAUST has ten full-time faculty members whose research falls into: Combustion & Energy, Fluid Mechanics, Materials & Solid Mechanics, and Dynamics & Control. http://me.kaust.edu.sa
Priorities will be given to candidates with research interests in areas that may enhance and complement the KAUST research centers and clusters, including, but not limited to:
• Experimental solid mechanics: very low scale mechanical testing, micromechanics, dynamic behavior of materials, multi-physics behavior, soft materials, and materials for energy
• Computational solid mechanics: high performance computing, molecular mechanics/dynamics, reduced models, inverse problems, and materials for energy
• Dynamics and control: nonlinear systems, stochastic phenomena, and vibrations.
• Experimental combustion: advanced diagnostics, flame structure, spray combustion, emissions, and new concepts in combustion (position open in the Clean Combustion Research Center (CCRC) http://ccrc.kaust.edu.sa).
• Internal combustion engines: advanced low temperature combustion engines, spray, emissions, fuel characterization and blending effects, new engine concepts (position open in the Clean Combustion Research Center (CCRC) http://ccrc.kaust.edu.sa).
Applicants should have a proven track record to establish a high impact research program and have a commitment to high quality teaching at the graduate level.
To learn more about the PSE Division and complete the online application form, visit http://pse.kaust.edu.sa. Application requirements include the following sections:
• Updated curriculum vitae with a full list of publications
• Statement of research
• Statement of teaching interests
• Contact details of at least four potential referees
Applications received by January 31, 2014 will receive full consideration and positions will remain open until filled.
