ABAQUS> documentation > *.inp example files> Projectile impacting eroding plate

I have two questions about abaqus *.inp files.

first of all, as you may know, users are capable of running these type of example files through this way:

File> Import> Model...> SIMULIA>documentation>docs> v6.12> books> eif> *.inp

but when i run each of them (for instance Projectile impacting eroding plate: pl3d_erode_ccs.inp) , two important question marks above them will arised.

first, there isn't any geometry for parts and insted of that you see the term "orphan mesh" there. how we can extract a real geometry from an orphan mesh?

second, when running Projectile impacting eroding plate: pl3d_erode_ccs.inp, and check the interaction properties, there is a term with name "Defult" and when i click on that there isn't any discription and determined data for that. how could i get hidden properties?

1. I am not sure, but from either 6.11 or 6.12, you can create geometry from orphen mesh. Any older version, it is not possible.

2. To know the default properties, the only option you have is to go through abaqus analysis manual for required property (in ur case it is interaction).

The world started with 0, is progressing with 0, but doesn't want 0.

I got the answer of my 2nd question, but my 1st question is still up.

I use ABAQUS 6.12 now and need to know how can i create the geometry from orphan mesh? you have any step-by step procedure? if yes, help me plz. otherwise i appreciate my friends help if they can do this example (pl3d_erode_ccs.inp) themselves in a complete way and send me their .cae file

but another problem: if i want to go through the way that appear in the model tree, it is not necessary to define meterial and section and then assign them to the sphere. but when i imitate that for my model, software abort during running job and stoped. the error message in the job's monitor is: "928 elements have missing property definitions. The elements have been identified in element set ErrElemMissingSection."

so, what should i do for the sphere properties?
