Applying Initial Conditions

I am using ABAQUS 6.9 and would like to apply a residual stress region on 2D Plate in a specific section. 

I am trying to enter a compressive stress = -200E06 to a set called set-1. I read online that to apply a stress to a set the following must be entered:

*INITIAL CONDITIONS, type=stress

set_set-1, s11=-200E06,s22=-200E6

The code above must be entered before the steps in the edit keyword window under model, then a create a blank step after.

here are my questions:

1. Am i entering it correctly? i am getting an error message about *CONLFICTS.

2. Is this approach applicable? following this i will be performing crack analyses to determine the Contour Integrals.
