The Dynamics Research Group is a global team of engineers and scientists primarily involved in developing new knowledge and techniques to avoid dynamic instabilities and mitigate drilling vibrations. We have an opportunity for a 3-month summer internship in the area of drilling mechanics and dynamics located out of The Woodlands, TX office. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate meeting the following requirements:
- Candidacy in MS or PhD program in Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace/Mining engineering, Materials Science or relevant disciplines at a US University
- Thorough understanding of continuum mechanics, finite element methods, vibration and dynamics, rock mechanics, or relevant subjects
- Experience in formulation and computer modeling of mechanics/dynamics problems is a plus
- Familiarity with Matlab, MS Excel, and commercial/in-house FEA packages is desirable
