PhD Scholarship: Structural vibration analysis and computational mechanics
One scholarship is available for a PhD student to pursue research in the School of Engineering at the University of Waikato towards the development of a general analytical procedure for vibration analysis of complex structures. In modelling solid bodies with voids, we will consider treating the voids as embedded negative bodies.
The successful candidate will work with:
Professor Sinniah Ilanko and Dr Yusuke Mochida (University of Waikato, New Zealand)

Professor Peter Hagedorn (Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany)

The scholarship provides a stipend of $25,000 plus $5,000 towards the cost of enrolment fees annually for three years. In addition, travel funding will be provided for the student to attend an international conference and to visit Technical University of Darmstadt, Cardiff University and the University of Sheffield for laboratory work. This research is supported by a Marsden Grant http://www.royalsociety.org.nz/programmes/funds/marsden.
Candidates with an excellent Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics and outstanding mathematical and computational skills are encouraged to apply. Applications close 30 March 2012.
