A full time Postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Sensory Motor Performance Program at The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
Under the general supervision of the assigned Senior Research Scientist, the Post Doc Fellow will be responsible for the development of a three-dimensional multi-scale finite element model of the human knee, and will compute the stress/strain fields in the joint soft tissues before and after common orthopaedic surgeries using three-dimensional hyper-elastic formulation.
The following knowledge, skills and abilities are required: 1. A professional level of knowledge in computational engineering generally acquired through the completion of a Ph.D. Degree in Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering. 2. Less than 5 years of postdoctoral training. 3. Knowledge in nonlinear elasticity. 4. Working knowledge in Finite Element Analysis of Nonlinear Structures. 5. Working knowledge and experience in Abaqus (standard, explicit, and implicit), HyperMesh and familiarity with SolidWorks. 6. Knowledge in Matlab, C++, and Python Language. 7. Familiarity with Genetic Algorithms and Bayesian Statistics. 8. Analytical abilities necessary to understand complex problems and to resolve these problems through the application of appropriate technologies/software. 9. Experience with personal computer systems and related software.
