vibration of euler beam or plate?
I hear if Length>10*Width and Length>17*thickness then we ca use vibration Euler beam instead of viration of plate.
When can we use theory of vibration of Euler beam instead of vibration plate?

Problem in importing 3D modle from Pro E to ANSYS
Hi all
I have done 3D modeling in Pro E. When i am trying to import it in ANSYS its taking alot of time. almost 1 hour has passed and modle is still not imported in ANSYS. I have converted my modle in IGES format.
Is there any way to import the modle easily from Pro E to ANSYS???

I'M USING ABAQUS IN MODELING A BEAM UNDER flexural, "BENDING". my problem is the concrete material model with tension stiffening. my problem is occured repeatedly for all element types.
Although, i imported the input files obtained from the ABAQUS ducomentaion for support; the same error obtained.. the programe message is
The plasticity/creep/connector friction algorithm did not converge at 10 points
Spectrum Analysis in ANSYS
Hi all,
After untyring efforts i was able to do modal analysis and i am happy that alot people are helping at this forum. Now the problem i am facing is that after modal analysis i am carrying our spectrum analysis. I have selected PSD as my spectrum analysis. I have all the statistical data of PSD table i.e Frequency Vs PSD. After entring the PSD table i have to apply the boundary conditions. I use following path to for Boundary Conditions.
Main Menu>>Preprocessor>>loads>>Define loads>>apply>>structural>>spectrum

Pressure on circular area of a semi-infinite plane: typos in textbooks "contact mechanics" "surface mechanics" "elasticity"
This is supposed to be a very classic analytical solution in applied elasticity. Forgive me if this is a repost or some correction has been made before. I had a hard time with it.
Problem statement: uniform pressure is applied on cirular area (radius=r) on top of a semi-infinite plane. Find the vertical deflection.
We got discrepancy between FEA solution and analytical solution which I found from different textbooks (famous and non-famous): Deflection within the circle is good, however, no good outside the circle.
