The NVH and Experimental Mechanics Laboratory (NVHEM) at Kettering University invites applications for an immediate visiting scholar position to help in developing a nonlinear model for multibody simulations. The project is sponsored by one of the major automakers in Michigan.

Transportation of heavy acidic fluids is often done with specifically designed lined pipelines. The pipelines typically have an outer steel wall (thickness ~15 mm) and an inner ceramic coating (thickness ~1 mm). The proper functioning of such lined pipelines is almost exclusively determined by the inner ceramic coating. In case there would be a leak in the ceramic coating, the acidic fluid will corrode through the outer steel wall in a matter of hours, leading to a full shutdown of the industrial plant.

I am currently looking to hire a postdoc to work on DEM modeling of dynamic problems and impact events. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills (C++/Python) and existing experience with open source software and GUI development. Full details may be found at this link. We have an immediate opening for a research assistant in the Mech Engng department at IISc Bangalore.

• Strong background in Finite element methods
• Skill in C++ programming
• Masters degree with specialization in computational mechanics, applied mathematics or related areas.
