I want to apply torque to beam188 and want to find out the angle of rotation of the beam.How to do that?

I also want to generate residual stress of 100MPa in the beam. Can someone tell me about this?

I have tried generating the residual stress by applying temperature but its not working.

I am doing the modal analysis of a tapered cantilever beam with an lumped mass at the free end

I meshed with beam 188 and difine the crossection as rectangular at the both ends by SECTYPE,SECDATA command.

But how to connect the mass element at the free end?

I hv also gone through the VM34 example given in ANSYS help.

Please suggest.

 I am using IE8 and I'm not having an issue submitting comments (as you can see here). I thought you might have been talking about the evil IE 6, hah. NOTHING works right on that... I have given up on IE6 if you are still lame enough to use this version then you deserve a bad web experience!

i used IE 7 a lot cause it had some features (lke seo  toolbars) although it was a buggy browser. I didn't bother using IE 8 at all but recently i used IE 9 and frankly it is super fast. The best browser ever made by Microsoft. 

Previus versions of IE (such as IE 7) had such problems cause they weren't compliant with the w3c standards. Now they are that's why their browser doesn't have problems such as the ones that you mentioned above.
