I found a great tutorial for abaqus/cae at https://abaqus-docs.mit.edu/2017/English/SIMACAEGSARefMap/simagsa-m-Caeb... but I cannot find the main page, which I need to navigate it; I am forced to Google for individual sections guessing at what the section titles migh be; I need a URL to the root page so I can navigate the tutorial like an ebook.

I  need to find a startup file that Abaqus/CAE reads on startup to add a line of Python to modify the behavior the way I like it. I find myself adding this line manually every time I start Abaqus/CAE and I am tired of it. Like the .gpr file but .grp is a binary file--I cannot add things to it with a text editor. It has to be an initialization file, right? Or may be some other way to do it. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I am trying to generate an element based surface in Abaqus using python scripts. I need to create this surface in order to create an offset layer of solid elements using the offset mesh method in the edit mesh dialogue. It is not possible to use this feature using geometry based surfaces. The surface that I would like to generate is not all in one plane, I think this may add to my difficulty (see image, part). If I were able to generate an element based surface from a geometry based surface this would also work for me as I can easily generate a geometry based surface.

Hi everybody,

I want to model a biological cell, diameter of 10 microns! Then what should be the apporx. size in CAE? I am confused! I got to know that the minimum size of parts should be in mm, is this right. then how to solve the problem.

Hi Guys,

 I'm having trouble in creating a sudden decelleration of a body using Abaqus. Similar to a shock but no actuall impact. I whant to measure the body response for stress and strain along time.

Does anyone have a good tutorial that I could use as a guide?

ADAPTIVE MESHING in ABAQUS Standard, specialists, please help

Hello everybody,

Specialist please answer. I make simulations of nanoindentation. I do it in ABAQUS Standard 6.7.1, till 20 nm it is OK. But as i increase the penetration depth, the simulation stops and the information that the element under the indenter is highly distorted. Do you know what is the reason. Does it mean that adaptive meshing doesn't work? Or some other problem.

I have the following problöem, I simulate indentation test, abt it is ok under penetration, when i release the indenter the program stop. What could be the reason? Wrong boundary conditions?

Hello everybody,

I simulate the indentation test with ABAQUS CAE, the indenter is simulated as rigid body analytical surface. I also created reference point, but when i submit the job, there is a mistake:

 

The rigid part instance Part-2-1 is missing a reference point. Either assign a reference point to the corresponding part or include the entire part in a rigid body constraint.

I think i have done everything properly but it doesn't work. if you need i can send you my code.

I am looking forward to your answer.

surface interaction

Hello everybody,

I am simulating contact problem . Two sutfaces are in contact. One of them is anamytial surface. My slave surface doesn't deforms properly, master surface goes through my slave surface. Please help me with advice, which properties should i put for interaction?  What should be the reason of such mistake.

Hi all,

       I am having some troubles with the extrude command in Abaqus cae. I have modeled my sample as a 2-D geometry and now I want to move to 3-D for the same section. But I am having trouble extruding my 2-D section. It seems to me very weird and far to complicated the extrusion process in abaqus for such a simple task...
