J integral variation through thickness in tubes with through-wall circumferential crack, calculated with Abaqus/CAE

Dear friends: I am a PhD candidate studying fracture problems in tubes. I am doing J integral calculations in Abaqus, for tubes with through-wall circumferential cracks subjected to tensile and bending loads. I am using quadratic 20 nodes isoparametric elements with reduced integration (C3D20R), ranging from two to five elements through the wall thickness mesh.

Abaqus CAE- buckling analysis eigenvalue

Dear members,

 

my question is about how to use the Abaqus CAE eigenvalue for a linear buckling analysis.

I did a linear buckling analysis for a gFRP vertical panel (h:270  thick:20 w:50 cm). I applied a uniform pressure with value 1 on the top of the panel along the Z axis.

Mode 1 gives me an Eigenvalue of 52853 (please see the attachment). I know that in order to obtain the maximum buckling stress I should multiplicate the eigenvalue for the load appied. It means that the value for the buckling stress is 52853 (N/cm2).

Damage models implementation in ABAQUS

Hi all

I am M.Sc. sutdent in Istanbul Technical University and my research subject is comparision of several ductile damage models both computationaly and experimentally.

I am trying to compare ductile damage models such as Freudenthal,Cockroft,Ayada ,Brozzo etc. computationally using ABAQUS and seeking a way to implement these damage models in ABAQUS.

To obtain each models damage result individually should damage model be implemented in ABAQUS or  can a regular tensile test results be used for calculation of damage values.

Could you please advise me for methodolgy to run a simulation to obtain ductile damage values accordng to models mentioned above.

Viscoplasticity (Anand's Model in ABAQUS CAE 6.8)

Hi,

I am trying to model a double lap shear in ABAQUS. In Abaqus version
6.7 and above, Anand's model can be invoked by editing keywords and
adding necessary data lines  in keyword editor. I am facing some
prblems in running the job analysis and since I am new to working with
ABAQUS, I am not able to solve the problem. The problem is, when I
submit the job the status keeps on showing "Running" without showing
any error or warnings. I have tried all both coarse and finner meshes
so i think there is no problem with convergence. 

Modeling time dependent function in Abaqus/CAE

Hello,

 

I am very new to Abaqus so I apologize since I am probably using the incorrect terminology for this and asking a fairly simple question.

 

I would like to model a laser beam striking a part the part is rotating w.r.t. the beam and I would like to model this. I have already set up Cylindrical coordinate and I just want the beam to sweep the surface following the equation:

 

Theta = Omega * Time

where:

Theta:= Angular Position

Omega:= Angular Velocity

Time:= Time

 

Abaqus modelling of a finger (orphan mesh)

I am working  with an orphan mesh of a finger made up of:

1) elasitc epidermis layer

2) viscoelastic dermis layer

3) hyperelastic layer

4) bone

NLGEOM is turned on

Tie constraints re used between the layers and the bone

I wish to make this finger come into contact with a round object

however the job always fails as is does not converge.

Will anyone be able to advise on this matter?

I am working with a simulation of a thin component bonded to a thick
component in ABAQUS 6.7.  Here I utilize beam (B21) elements bonded to
plane strain elements (CPE4R) using a *TIE constraint, and another
simulation that uses plane stress elements (CPS4R) bonded to plane
strain elements (CPE4R) using a *TIE constraint.  In both cases the
plane strain elements represent the slave surface for the bonded
constraint.

Disparity in Simple Shear solution in ABAQUS

Dear All,
We tried to simulate simple shear using ABAQUS and compared it with the analytical solution. To our surprise, even though the equivalent stress and strain matched perfectly, the component stress and strain had a large deviation between the semi analytical and ABAQUS methods. The zero components in the analytical model were calculated to be non-zero in the results of ABAQUS. This paradox could not be understood clearly as whether it is a case of software deficiency or conceptual error. A COMPLETE ANALYSIS OF THE PROBLEM IS ATTACHED AS A REPORT.

i am new to Abaqus and i am unsing Abaqus 6.10

i planned to solve a contact problem by taking a bearing for example problem. i modelled the bearing section in pro-e and inmported it to Abaqus.

*i gave the material properties of steel for both ball and races

* in interferance i defined ball as master and the surfaces in the reces in the bearing as slave. frictionless.

* i gave pressure on the top race and arresteed the bottom race.

* the sides were given symentric with respect to y axis.

when solved i get the job is aborted.

Hi,

I am modelling installation (Jacking) of concrete pile (rigid body) in soil (Eulerian soil) which involves large deformations.

 For jacked pile contact friction is considered as zero.

Inorder to cope up with large deformation which occur during pile penetration process kinematic contact fomulation is used, this formulation is based of master-slave principle implemented in ABAQUS.

When I run the analysis i am encountering with following error:

Periodic Boundary Conditions in ABAQUS

Hello everybody, i am new in abaqus, is anyone who knows how to apply periodic boundary conditions, for example for unit cell. The piece of code would be very much appreciated

 

for example ´

if i have on the left hand side node set NSET1, on the right hand site NSET2 than i should use equation like this for periodic boundary conditions in x-direction?

*EQUATION

NSET1, 1,1, NSET2, 1, 1????

Elasto-Plastic Analysis of metal component with Cyclic Loading

Hi,

 

I am pursuing my master's in Mech. Engg. and working on Abaqus for FEA of components. In one of the analysis, 

I am required to apply cyclic loading on the component to determine the Stresses at the edges. Its a compression

cyclic loading with kinematic hardening taken into account. From the documentation for ABAQUS 6.9.1, I found that

in order to apply kinematic hardening in metals, one must take it as Combined (Isotropic + Kinematic) Hardening.

 

The two concerns I have about this analysis are:
