Nodal Stresses
Submitted by SivaSrinivasKolukula on Tue, 2011-06-21 09:56.Hi all
I want to know how to find nodal stresses. For example say, in a plane stress analysis knowing displacement's dof, we can get stresses. But these stresses are those at the Gaussian points. We can extrapolate these stresses at Gaussian points to nodal values. My question is, for every node we will get four stresse values (extrapolated from stresses at Gaussian points) using these how I can get single value at the node? What averaging techniques I should follow and how ? And after finding a single stress at a node, how we can get stress for the element?
Thanks in advance

ABAQUS related
Submitted by SivaSrinivasKolukula on Wed, 2011-05-18 03:33.Hi
I want to print complete assembeled mass, stiffness matrices in ABAQUS. I was trying for this. I got some clue for this as follows:
*STEP
etc
etc.
*ELEMENT MATRIX OUTPUT, OUTPUT FILE=FILENAME.EXT, MASS=YES, STIFFNESS=YES, ELSET=ELSET_NAME
*END STEP

Seismic Analysis
Submitted by SivaSrinivasKolukula on Thu, 2010-12-23 07:40.Hi
I am doing seismic analysis of Fluid filled cylindrical steel tanks using FEM. In this analysis I m supposed to find Base Shear and Overturning moment. Steel tank is thin shell and is flexible. For the complete loading of the shell I have its stress field i.e I have Nxx, Nxy, Nyy, Mxx, Mxy, Myy components of the thin shells middle surface. They are per unit length. Using these components how I can find Base Shear and OTM?
Any reference/suggestion for this study....
Thanks in advance

Stiffness matrix
Submitted by SivaSrinivasKolukula on Mon, 2010-02-22 11:26.Hi all...........
I have a doubt in FEM for calculating Stiffness matrix. I am using a mesh where the mesh has combination of two different elements. 4 noded isoparametric quadrilateral elements and 8 noded isoparametric quadrilateral elements. The stiffness matrix order for Q8 elements is 8X8 and for Q4 elements is 4x4. Now my doubt is how to assemble these different order matrices? 8x8 and 4X4 matrix? Is that we need to turn 4X4 matrix to 8X8 matrix by taking zeros at evry alternate positions............? I am not sure of this. I am confused........if not is any other method there? I am new to FEM.
