Post-Doc Position on Disordered Auxetic Metamaterials at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia

We are looking for a post-doc interested in working on an externally-funded two-year project related to the design and development of disordered auxetic metamaterials. The successful applicant will form part of the Machine Design Group at the Department of Engineering Sciences and Methods in Reggio Emilia. The main focus of the work involves studies on the influence of disorder on metamaterial functionality as well as explore novel methods in which intrinsically disordered metamaterials may be designed. Part of the project will be carried out in collaboration with a research group from the University of Oxford and the post-doc will also have the opportunity to undertake an internship period abroad at this university.

Prospective candidates should ideally have a strong background in the field of mechanical metamaterials or disordered microstructures. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis simulations (preferably with ANSYS) and programming is required. Candidates in possession of basic knowledge of other numerical methods such as molecular dynamics and forcefield-based simulations will also be considered favourably.

The position will formally be open for applications within the coming weeks, however interested applicants can also send their CV and contact Dr Luke Mizzi by email at luke.mizzi@unimore.it for more information.

The post will be updated when the call for applications opens.
