2022 Daniel C. Drucker Medal - Professor Horacio Espinosa

The Executive Committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division is pleased to congratulate Professor Horacio Espinosa, James and Nancy Farley Professor of Manufacturing and Entrepreneurship, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering, Northwestern University, as the recipient of the 2022 Daniel C. Drucker Medal. This award, which includes a medal, a plaque, and an honorarium, will be presented at the Applied Mechanics Division Awards Dinner, during the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition(IMECE2022), to be held during October 30 – November 3, 2022, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The Daniel C. Drucker Medal was established in 1997 and is conferred in recognition of distinguished contributions to the field of applied mechanics and mechanical engineering through research, teaching, and service to the community over a substantial period of time. Instituted by the Applied Mechanics Division, this medal honors Dr. Daniel Drucker and commemorates his service to the profession.

Professor Espinosa receives the Drucker Medal for seminal contributions to in-situ characterization and modeling of nano and meta materials, and the creation of robust nanoelectromechanical systems.
