International Teaching Staff Week, 21-25 March 2022, online

Dear colleagues,

it is our great pleasure to announce the third International Teaching Staff Week of the Simulation Science Center Clausthal-Göttingen. The event will take place online from March 21 to 25, 2022. During the Teaching Staff Week, lecturers from abroad will offer courses in the field of simulation for material sciences. This year, the lecturers and topics are as follows:

Prof. Dr. Yudi Rosandi (Universitas Padjadjaran, Indonesia):

High Performance Computing for Physical Modeling and Simulation

Prof. Dr. Francesco Maresca (University of Groningen, Netherlands):

Multiscale materials modelling: from atomistics to micromechanics

Prof. Dr. Roberto Veiga (ABC Federal University, Brazil):

First principles calculations and atomistic simulations in Materials Science

All interested PhD and master students are invited to register via the website or an informal e-mail.

Registration is free. The event takes place digitally and is accompanied by a virtual social program. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

This year, we offer the “Science meets Art” contest to all registered meeting attendees.

In science, visualization methods are a significant tool for analyzing and presenting scientific results. Images have the ability to convey information in ways that tables of data and formulae cannot. Scientific images occasionally go beyond their role as a medium for conveying information and contain aesthetic qualities that make them objects of beauty and art.

Therefore, all participants are invited to send in aesthetic scientific images with a meaningful caption from their work by 3/23 at 12:00 pm to nina.merkert@tu-clausthal.de. On Thursday, 3/24 at 11:30 am we will vote live on the best submissions. The winner will receive a book prize and a certificate.
